"Apprenticeship - Collage making"

For my apprenticeship module I created a collage presentation and shared my skills in collage making.
First I will have a meeting with my arts leader to plan a strategy on how to deliver our workshop, and what are the best  fun methods  for me to deliver.

The things I think might be challenging are talking in  front of people, making the presentation  fun so that the participants are involved.

It felt cool presenting because I was presenting my skills to arts leaders rather than the other way around. People asked about which artists inspired me and which works my art resembles so I spoke about Matisse.  I realised that my collage has become like a map - representing the whole three weeks of Sumer Arts College.

If I was to present my skills again I would spend more time planning and collect art materials so that everyone could have a go at creating their own collage.

Participation

This week we have beem creating a documentary:

We practiced camera skills first and then we got used to the camera and being in front of the camera.  We practiced interviewing each other to get our confidence up and then put into practice what we had learned by going into the public and interviewing them about what they thought about youth of today.

New skills I have leared are:

Operating a professional camera, interview techniques - asking questions and listening and responding to the answers.  I have also learned how to edit the footage using Imovie on a Mac.

What I thought about this week:

This week has been really great.  I thought it was really fun and exciting.  I have never done something like this before and I found that with each interview I got more confident.  In the beginning I felt nervous about talking to people on the street but with each person I spoke to, it got easier and I was able to remember every thing I had to say.  Some people didn't want to stop and be interviewed, but that was ok.

My arts hero

My arts hero is chris ofili because i saw shown one of his pieces.  It was a picture of a pair of shoes made out of Elephant dung!  When I saw them, I thought 'Wow!'.

Find out about chris ofili by following this link
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chris_Ofili

Chris Ofili is a black british visual artist who often incorporates elephant dung into his pieces.  He won the Turner Prize.  When he won it he said that he'd won it for all the black people out there, to show them that all black people are capable of success.

This is my favourite of his pieces.  I like it because it looks attractive.  It's eye catching.

My Arts Award

For 'Heroes' I would  like to give  presentations on Chris Ofili.  His work is new to me and I'd like 2 find out more about him.

For 'Participation' I would like to blog about my experience of the Capoeira workshop because I have never done it before but I like dancing and I think I might enjoy it.

Watch some Caopeira here:

For 'Audience' I will go to the BBC TV Studios because I am excited about going and I've never been before.

For 'Apprenticeship' I would like to assist the arts leader in running a drama game.
